Brown carpet treatment

Should Post Box Square be shag-piled?

Should Post Box Square be carpeted?

The uneven surfaces of Post Box Square aren’t the prettiest sight around, but would they be improved by carpeting?

Someone has kindly donated a section of brown, lightly stained, floor covering as a try out. Perhaps a nice, wall-to-wall carpet could be just the trick for smartening up the area and preventing people from dumping more stuff (although, as the top of this photograph shows, it hasn’t stopped a couple of bin bags from appearing).

How would you like to see Post Box Square covered? Axminster? Shagpile? Maybe a nice patterned linoleum or some parquet tiles?

Table, mountain

Is it coffee table? A hostess trolley? Perhaps a TV stand? With so many potential uses, how did this stylish furniture item wind up in the Square?

Useful but unused

It would be nice, during its residency, if it could be used to store or display other dumped items, such as the soggy mountain of medium density fibreboard in the left of the picture.

Cafe society

Perhaps someone was trying to kick start redevelopment of Post Box Square by placing umbrellas to bring a flavour of Continental cafe society to the space.

Crap garden furniture

Unloved umbrella stand

Imagine sipping a frothy coffee, shaded from the hot sun by a multi-coloured canopy, watching the people as they stroll by and dump old mattresses, bin bags full of rubble etc etc.

A fridge too far

This medium sized fridge had been left in the square for several days before it was snapped in this photo dated September 1. The fridge is seen relaxing at a rakish angle against one of the square’s trees.

The door to the battered appliance has been torn off, perhaps by an overzealous passer-by hoping to find some left over cheese or a tub of taramasalta.
